<Ps 78:72> says, “And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.” God elected a shepherd boy (David). Through his prayer, David enjoyed God’s promise that He is with him, and step-by-step God instructed and equipped him in all things, so that he became God’s great vessel to rule His people of Israel. To receive God’s practical equipping is what we believers will get from prayer. If not, we will continue to bow down to problems, and cannot experience being more than conquerors in Christ. Often, believers are not really convinced when they entrust to God during their prayer. After prayer, they also cannot enjoy God’s practical power that enables them to influence their fields and people around them. This is mainly because they did not attain ‘specialisation’ in prayer. A prayer which cannot attain specialisation is abstract, and does not have power or fruits. Because in everyday life, the power and wisdom of God lives through us and God will be victorious practically through us. Think about it, if parents are not able to be specialized in bringing up their children, how can they practically bless their own children, and influence other parents, testify about God’s help and wisdom? If a worker is not able to be specialized at dealing with people and managing his work, how is he going to testify for God and glorify God? If believers are not specialized, their faith is just empty words; the power is illusionary. They will often find themselves in situations that they have to compromise and in difficulties which they have no choice but to give excuses. Then do we need to be the best in all things before we can glorify God and edify men? The answer is: In the domains that God places us in and in the missions that He entrusts us, we must enjoy God’s greatest blessings. For example: You may not be the most outstanding in your results, but you must grasp the method to study by the Holy Spirit; you may not be the most intelligent in your office, but you must be the wisest; you may not be the most knowledgeable parent, but you must be the most spiritual. No matter what domains God puts you in, you must rely on prayer to restore the ‘common sense’ that God gives you, and then in the process, become more specialized. This is what Joseph received as a slave, what Daniel received as a captive and what David received as a shepherd boy. This is what a person will receive as he continues to rely on the Holy Spirit. However, in the process of becoming specialized, believers must absolutely remember not to deviate from the truth of Immanuel. True power and unceasing wisdom ultimately come from revering Jehovah.
