When we are receiving this healing message, we will encounter a very real problem, which is our faith is insufficient. We may receive a lot of enlightenment in this message, or rationally, seem to understand the answers God give us through His word, but because we are lacking in faith, we still find it hard to live it out when we meet real problems in our lives. Often, we also fall into a state of self-accusations because of our inadequate faith, as we know the truth yet we cannot do it. This is like: although we know we should bless all people, there’re times we cannot look beyond man’s transient weaknesses because we lack the faith to do so; although we know that we’re blessed and our children will thus be blessed, yet when we see the current problems in our children we lose the faith to anticipate their future; in money matters we know that it’s blessing to be able to give more, yet we do not have the faith to do so. While encountering these hurdles in the process of healing, those who are living in obedience of God will acknowledge that indeed they need to receive more grace. Therefore, they will ask the Lord to increase their faith and love. Firstly, this heart is pleasing to the Lord because the apostles also likewise asked the Lord, and HE was willing to answer them too. But to many, in the process of seeking faith, they do not know how to confirm how this faith has come, instead, they are waiting emptily for the feeling of having had the faith, or the day the strength come upon them. As a result, they will once again be disheartened when they are weak again, or blame themselves for not having faith and falling into self-accusations. As a result, the seeking of faith this way will lead to the vicious cycle of greater disbelief. Actually, faith is the enabling power of God and its increase comes from the Lord’s grace. Therefore, one who truly knows how to seek for faith will not always focus on whether his faith has increased or can overcome the relative situation he is in, instead, he will look to the object of faith (i.e. God) and His works, and faith will thus develop inside him. One who is truly seeking faith will first enter the truth of God and meditate on it, until he is being convicted by it, repeatedly confirming and experimenting these truths in his living, until he sees its practicality. A convicted heart (by the Word of God) and actualizing them in the living (relying on Holy Spirit) are necessary paths for people who seek faith. Also, in the process of seeking faith we should never (because of weakness) become emotional, look for shortcuts or a quick sense of goodness. These methods will not cause our faith to genuinely progress but return us to square one eventually, going back to the same problem. In fact, we need to be pragmatic in this journey of seeking faith, only then will it be fulfilled.
