我们所活在的属灵世界里是有争战的。因此，我们都活在争战里，而且那争战是比看得见的现象世界的争战还可怕。那是灵里面的争战，思想里面的争战。当我们看到这世界时，我们一般人看的是西方与东方社会的争战，资本与共产主义的争战，民主与专制主义的争战，历史告诉我们这些思想的斗争带来了世界性的战争。但有一种战争是我们基督徒常常面对却毫无意识的，那就是在我们里面有一种交战，就是自我为主与基督为主的交战。我们永恒的福分是与这个争战直接有关系的。其实，这等的争战一直在我们生命里发生。争战的结果就是有一方会受到掳掠，败者自然受到胜者的掳掠。因此，保罗在书信中常常用到“掳掠”这个字 – 如同这人已经让魔鬼任意掳去《提后2:26》；有人不照着基督，乃照人间的遗传和世上的小学，就把你们掳去《西2:8》；肢体中另有个律和我心中的律交战，把我掳去，叫我附从那肢体中犯罪的律《罗7:23》。其实，我们不要单单看人的软弱与无能，人的背后是被掳掠的。确实上，有一个更强的力量将他们的心意掳去，所以他们的思想、情感、意志都在此被左右。一个错误的教导的力量就在于将人的心意掳掠了，叫人从此无论看什么就从那错误的眼光出发。在此，只要与那教导不相同的说法，他就会认为都是错的。这如同加拉太人受了假师傅的教导后，认为有了基督还要受犹太人的戒律，从此就开始弃绝保罗纯正福音的教导。哥林多信徒受了错误的教导之后，就开始觉得保罗的教导有误，甚至怀疑他使徒的身份与明证。另外，在我们个人身上的问题也一样。为何总是有一些问题绝不能让人碰到呢？为何我们对身体的健康、儿女的教育、金钱的用法等总是有自己固执的想法呢？其实，我们是因信心不够吗？往往不是，乃是因为我们在此处有坚固的营垒。我们对何谓属灵、敬虔、能力、医治、经历神等都有自己的定义。我们对跟从与服侍主都有自己的一套方法和眼光。因此，我们很难完完全全地降服于基督，整个的信仰精神与形态也不会走到效法基督。纵然如此，我们主耶稣基督在十字架上已经得胜了。《弗4:8》说祂升上高天的时候（受死、复活、升天）掳掠了仇敌。所以，我们主耶稣已经享有最终的得胜了。现在，教会的使命就是将人所有的心意夺回，降服于基督。那要怎么争战呢？就是学用那不属血气的兵器，且是神的能力（福音的大能），以此来攻破坚固的营垒（阻拦人认识神的那些自高自大之事）。倘若我们的生命里有挣扎与困惑，让我们不要以其他的方法来得解脱，有时我们继续绞尽脑汁、沉思凝想、过度反思都不是最好的方法。我们一定要从神的话切实的发现自己生命里头含有的坚固营垒，且是那不能降服于基督之处，然后以此回到神的话语怎么说，也在此靠着圣灵的能力来粉碎这些营垒。否则，我们的反思或激情反而会带我们更加走迷路。

There is a battle in the spiritual world we live in. Therefore, we are living in a war. And that war is more terrible than the war we see in the physical world. It is a war in the spirit and thoughts. When we look at this world, usually we see a clash between the Western and Eastern societies, between capitalism and communism, between democracy and autocracy. History tells us these clashes in ideologies can bring about wars in a global scale. However, there is a kind of war that we Christians often face, but we are unconscious of it. It is a battle within us. It is a battle between being self-centred or Christ-centred. Our eternal blessing is directly related to this war. Actually, such battles are always in our lives. The outcome of battles is that one side will be taken captive. Naturally, the defeated will be taken captive by the victor. Therefore, Paul often used the word, “captive” in his letters – “they are trapped by the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” <2 Ti 2:26>; “takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ” <Col 2:8>; “I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me” <Ro 7:23> . Actually, we must not just see man’s weaknesses and powerlessness, behind all these is that they are taken captive. Actually, there is a greater power that has taken their hearts captive, therefore their thinking, emotions and will are being manipulated. The power of a wrong teaching lies in its ability to take a person’s heart and mind captive, causing the person to see everything with a wrong perspective. Because of that, anything that is different from that teaching, they will view it as wrong. This is just like how the Galatians, after receiving the teachings from false teachers, thought that besides Christ, they still needed to adhere to Jewish customs and laws, and started to abandon Paul’s teaching of the pure gospel. Many believers in Corinth also received false teachings and then started to think that Paul’s teachings was erroneous, and doubted his apostleship and evidences. Also, the problems we faced are similar. Why is it that there are some problems we refuse to allow others to intervene? Why is it that we have our own stubborn thinking about our health, children’s education, financial management? Actually, is it because we lack faith? Usually not, but because we have a stronghold in these areas. We have our own definition of what is spiritual, godliness, power, healing and experiencing God. We have our own perspectives about what it means to follow and serve the Lord. Therefore, it is very hard for us to completely surrender to Christ, and the spirit and form of our faith will not lead us to imitate Christ. Nevertheless, our Lord Jesus Christ is already victorious on the Cross. <Ep 4:8> says that when He ascended on high (died, resurrected, ascended), He took many captives and gave gifts to His people. Therefore, our Lord Jesus enjoys the final victory. Now, the mission of the churches is to take captive the heart and mind of everyone and have them surrender to Jesus? How do we fight this war? It is to learn to use weapons that are not of the flesh, but of the power of God (power of the gospel), to overcome the strongholds (egocentric things that obstruct men from knowing God). If our lives have struggles and confusion, let us not seek liberation through other methods. Sometimes, it may not be the best idea to rack our own brains, ponder deeply, over-introspect. We must practically discover the strongholds in our lives, and areas that we cannot surrender to Christ, through the Word of God.  And then we go back to what the Word says, and rely on the Holy Spirit to wreck these strongholds. If not, our reflections or passions will lead us further down the wrong way.
