一般人现在努力做工，因为盼望将来享福，或是努力养育孩子，因为盼望他们将来出人头地。确实，我们人是因为有盼望才能活下去。上帝是如此创造我们，也确实清楚认识我们。所以，当我们知道，且确认了这世界是走向没落（例如：人的思想被假新闻与各种资讯情报掳掠、人的需求增多、人天天被忙碌的生活追赶、人因私欲增多而爱心渐渐冷淡等），我们圣民不能像世人一样的竞争而生存。相反的，我们需要盼望。所以，上帝在圣经里不断的透过应许来给我们盼望，告诉我们：祂是我们的牧者，我们不至于缺乏《诗23:1》；我们的好处不在祂以外《诗16:2》。但是在这将亡城最大的盼望就是“主耶稣必再临”，且要接我们回永远的家乡。这是一个终极的结果，且是给所有信徒最大盼望的应许。但确实，有时我们软弱与迷茫的心不能在这应许中看见盼望，特别当我们在面临那至暂至轻的苦楚时，例如：身体的病痛、孩子的任性、单身的孤单、工作的压力、与人关系的摩擦等，我们很自然是被当下的问题压倒。可能我们心里很自然的感触是觉得怎么能因主再临（似乎这么遥远的事）来得着现在的盼望呢？所以，大多数的人是只有看重短暂的梦想，就只寻求快感、娱乐。有些信徒则是将盼望放在短暂的理想，追求地上的祝福。这样一来，主所给切切实实“再临的应许”就越来越在信徒心中成为一个观念了。信徒反而更得不着真盼望，反倒将自己的盼望建立在短暂的顺利与成功。《罗5:5》说: “盼望不至于羞耻，因为所赐给我们的圣灵将神的爱浇灌在我们心里”。确实，我们的盼望是真实的，那不是一种积极精神，如同想象出来一般的。为何呢？因为圣灵会将神的爱浇灌在我们心里，这是历史历代敬虔爱主的圣民都经历的。这爱在急难中扶持了他们，在试炼中安慰了他们，甚至在面临生命危机时也使他们坦然无惧。所以，我们不但知道基督爱我们，为我们死在十字架上与祂要再来接我们回天家的真理，圣灵也要超自然的在当下（特别是我们受试炼时）将祂的爱浇灌在我们心里。那爱是真真实实的经历，要滋润我们，且要坚固我们，使我们对主的应许不只是留在观念，乃能够实际的体验。今天，很多信徒就是在残酷的现实中经历不到这等爱，所以一直怨声载道，认为主的救赎与再临是只有道理上的事，但实际信仰生活中却是很辛苦。可能他们就是天天卷在忙碌的生活中，主日到了去教会敬拜，但那等圣灵所赐的爱与滋润不在心中，这也难怪他们在这荣耀的信仰中总是看不到盼望，觉得生活没意义。试问我们相信神的应许，且期待圣灵在我们心中填满的爱吗？倘若是，让我们在这世界走向没落时更加的确认与经历圣灵在我们心中的爱。

Generally, people work hard because they hope to enjoy later, or they put in much effort to raise their children because they hope that their children will succeed in life later. Truly, we humans can live on because of hope. This is how God has created us and He clearly knows us. Therefore, when we know and confirm that this world is heading towards decline (e.g. Man’s thoughts are being held captive by fake news and various types of information, human needs increase, people are living a busy life, love gradually grows cold because of an increase in human desires, etc), we saints cannot similarly be like the people of this world who compete to survive. On the contrary, we need hope. Therefore, God continuously gives us hope through the promises in the Bible, telling us, He is our Shepherd, we lack nothing <Ps 23:1>; apart from Him, I have no good thing <Ps 16:2>. However, the greatest hope in this perishing city is “the Lord Jesus will come again”, and He wants to bring us back to our eternal home. This is the ultimate outcome, but it is this promise that gives believers the greatest hope. However, there are times when our weak and lost hearts cannot see hope in this promise, especially when we encounter light and momentary troubles, like health issues, wayward children, loneliness in singlehood, work stress, friction in interpersonal relationships, etc, we naturally are crushed by these issues. Possibly, the natural response of our hearts is how can we have hope in our current situation by knowing the Lord’s second coming (which is seemingly so far-fetched)? Therefore, most people only value temporal dreams, and seek pleasures and entertainment. Some believers also place their hopes on temporary ideals and go after worldly blessings. When this happens, the absolute “promise of His second coming” given by the Lord increasingly becomes a mere concept in the minds of believers. Believers all the more cannot receive true hope, and instead build their hope on temporal smooth-sailing life and success. <Ro 5:5> says, “And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.” Truly, our hope is real. It is not positive thinking as if it is something imaginative. How is this so? Because the Holy Spirit will pour out God’s love into our hearts. This is experienced by saints who revere and love the Lord throughout history. This love upholds them in times of trouble and comforts them in times of trial, making them even bold and courageous in the face of life crises. Therefore, we should not just know the truth that Christ loves us, died on the Cross for us and He will come again to bring us back to our heavenly home, the Holy Spirit must also supernaturally pour out His love into our hearts in all these issues (particularly when we are in suffering). This love is experienced in reality, it can nourish us and strengthen us, such that the Lord’s promise does not remain as a concept but can be encountered practically. Today, many believers cannot experience such love in the cruel reality and therefore continually complain. They think that the Lord’s salvation and second coming are mere concepts and they find that the practical aspect of their faith and living is challenging. Possibly, they are so occupied by their busy living that when the Sabbath comes, they just go to church to worship. However, the love and nourishment given by the Holy Spirit are not in them. As such, we cannot blame them for not being able to see hope in this glorious faith and also not finding meaning in life. Do we believe in God’s promise and anticipate the love of the Holy Spirit filling our hearts? If so, let us confirm and experience the love of the Holy Spirt in our hearts, as we walk towards the end of this world.
