Remain in me, and I will remain in you <Jn 15:1-8>

Introduction:

* The source of our life comes from the Lord.

* When the Lord’s life comes upon us, it will definitely bring about a life response.

* The mutual relationship between the Lord and us.

1. The Lord Jesus is the true vine, not Israel. <v1>

Read <Ps 80:8>

2. Branches that bear and don’t bear fruits. <v2>

3. Man can only be cleansed from sin through the Word. <v3>

4. <Jn 15:4>

1) The Life which can bear fruits only if it remains in the Lord.

2) Learn how to do all things by remaining in the Lord.

5. The reason why the branch is connected to the vine is to bear fruits. <v5>

6. Three ways of explanation: <v6>

1) Became a believer yet because he loves the world, he departs from the truth and ends up losing salvation.

2) Though a believer, he went the ways of the world and thus accumulated nothing of eternal value – Lot.

3) Outwardly looks like a believer yet has never remained in the Lord – Judas.

7. Only when the Word is in a person, then the out-gushing of his desires will be answered by the Lord. <v7>

8. The fruits bore by believers will bring glory to the Father and Son. <v8>
