He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness and judgment <Jn 16:1-15>

1. <Jn 16:1-4> The world wants to harm Christians.

1) Will not go astray = Will not stumble due to being caught by surprise. <v1>

2) Fervent people who are deceived are even more dreadful. <v2>

3) True Self: One who has never known God. <v3>

4) Knowing the reality beforehand guards our faith. <v4>

2. <Jn 16:5-11> The Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin.

1) The coming of the Holy Spirit will bring about a more blessed manifestation than the incarnate Lord. <v5-7>

2) The Holy Spirit will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness and judgment. <v8-11>

3. <Jn 16:12-15> Only the Holy Spirit will reveal to us the deep things of God.

1) The disciples could not understand the deeper doings of God due to their old legalistic mindset. <v12>

2) Only the Holy Spirit tells us the mind of God and the things that are to come. <v13>

3) The primary work of the Holy Spirit is to testify Christ and glorify Him. <v14-15>
