1. The background to God's institution of marriage.

1) God's great and perfect creation

2) God saw all that He had made and it was very good

3) But it is not good for the man to be alone

4) The core essence of God's creation is to rule over everything through marriage

2. What is the marriage which is ordained and instituted by God?

1) Marriage is "a covenant between one man and one woman"

2) Marriage is to recognize that both need each other

3) Marriage is two become one flesh

4) Marriage is where husband and wife both can be naked, and feel no shame
