God has made Jesus, both Lord and Messiah. <Ac 2:22-36; Mt 22:14>
Introduction:
* The second coming of Christ will absolutely correspond to the Church’s desire for His coming
* Here we confirm two important points:
1) Not many are saved
<Mt 22:14>
2) The content of the gospel we share is critical
* There are four parts in the Gospel that Peter shared in <Ac 2:22-36>
(1) The life and ministry of Jesus <Ac 2:22>
(2) Jesus’ death and burial <Ac 2:23>
(3) Jesus’ resurrection <Ac 2:24-32>
(4) Jesus exalted as Lord and Messiah <Ac 2:33-36>
1.<Ac2:22> Life and ministry of Jesus.
1) Jesus is a real person who grew up in Nazareth
2) Jesus performed supernatural work, proving that He is from God
(1) Miracles (Dynameis)
(2) Wonders (Terata)
(3) Signs (Semeia)
2. <Ac 2:23> Jesus’ death and burial.
1) Man’s evil
2) God’s will
** Application**
1) Although the work of evil is rampant, but do not participate in it.
2) Do not be aggrieved by the temporary work of evil.
3. <Ac 2:24-32> The resurrection of Jesus.
1) Whole bible testifies for Christ <Jn 5:39>
2) In the Old Testament, David is the King, Prophet and Priest.
3) Believers today can also enjoy the authority and power of the King, Prophet and Priest through the spreading of the gospel.
4. <Ac 2:33-36> Jesus is exalted as Lord and Messiah.
* After Jesus ascended to the throne, He possess the nature and authority as Lord and Messiah
* Apologetics: Be careful of those who only preach the risen Christ, not teachings on the crucified Christ
