Desire for Control Makes a Person Lose Control <Ge 3:4-6; 16:2-3; Lk 10:38-42; Gal 5:16-25>

1. Desire for control is a human desire, it cannot fulfill the work of the Holy Spirit

1) Desire for control is an intrinsic spiritual problem

2) The more you desire to control all things, the more likely you will lose control instead

3) Those with strong desire for control will often have blind spots

2. When one walks by the Spirit, he will not be ruled by his desire for control

1) Without the help of the Holy Spirit, no one can overcome the bondage of the desire for control

2) When one walks by the Spirit, he will not be ruled by his desire for control

3) Bear the fruit of the Spirit – self-control

3. Subdue the desire for control not just in our disposition, but in all areas

1) The Spirit desires what is contrary to the flesh

2) Though we do not want to control, we have the responsibility to manage all things with the Spirit
