The Responsibilities and Challenges in Bringing Up Children <Jdg 2:7-10; Eph 2:7-10>

1.    The Main Responsibility of Parents towards Children

1)    What causes the failure in passing on the faith?

2)    What is the content in passing on the faith?

2.    Fathers, do not embitter your children, but to bring them up according to the discipline and admonition of the Lord

1)    Although it is an instruction given to fathers, it is also given to mothers

2)    Negative method of teaching – Do not embitter your children

3)    Positive method of teaching – Bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord

①   It tells us that we cannot bring up our children as we please.

②   There are two methods of teaching here. One method is discipline, the other method is admonition.

3.    How to have a grasp in the dilemma between not embittering children and disciplining them?

1)    Maintain a good relationship with your children

2)    Your relationship with the Lord to be better than your relationship with your children

3)    Learn the love of God in the midst of tension with your children
