The main theme of the book of Ephesians is [God lives among men through the churches], and it encompasses three truths. First, no one can stop the good works God has begun. In the beginning of Ephesians it mentions how God, in His predestination, has chosen and saved man. He gives us Holy Spirit which continues to move in the hearts of those who have heard and believed in the gospel, so that they can truly know God and follow Him. Towards the end of the book, God was still accomplishing His wonderful work through Paul who was chained in the prison, and these great works are carried on till today. In these it reveals to man the [God-drivenness] that transcends man’s understanding, which is also the true, living, definite works of God. In all that God is accomplishing, [the church is the main character]. We should never underestimate what God can fulfill through a church that may appear humble. Despite the prevalence of world’s politics, religions and culture that often harm and oppress believers to the extent of wiping out the purity of Christian faith, God has never left the the churches He loves. The church is still the reason which the world exists, and it is the channel through which God works. We need to recognize that God is still doing great works this way, especially through believers who truly believe in His words, as they truly believe when the Lord says [prayer and living] will do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. Especially, the works of God are hidden from the naked eyes but made known to the spirit and mind of those who believe. When one receives God’s perfect will, starts praying, being led by the Holy spirit and center around the heavenly kingdom in his living, he will surely see the great work of God expanding through him in the end times. Through him, people will be saved, healed and being despatched for gospel everyday. Such person naturally has faith for he is always living in a system that allows him to continue to receive faith; and what he sees, encounters, and does in his practical living are all related to the matters of the kingdom. Therefore, we see that Paul commended two kinds of people when concluding the book of Ephesians. The first kind was Tychicus one who served faithfully and he had been a reliable and capable assistant to Paul. He bore the heart and mind God gave to Paul and ran errands for him to bring the letters to churches; and he had also helped Paul’s co-workers in the gospel ministry <Eph 6:21> <Col 4:7> <1 Ti 3:12>. In addition, Paul also blessed God’s believers who love Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love. These were true Christian for they knew God’s words, received God’s will and loved God wholeheartedly. Their spirit and lives were centered around the gospel, and had left glorious and honorable footprints in the world evangelism ministry.
