When Son of God Lord Jesus Christ descended from the most exalted place, put Himself in the deepest valley of self-sacrifice and suffering, that was the most tragic yet stunning matter in the eternal time.  Because of this action of Son of God, Holy Spirit can no longer hide the glory and sovereignty of God, and no one can be freed of rebuke and humiliation because of their sins. If one is to use a more relevant but inferior example to relate, it is like a king, who for the sake of saving his people who are self-centered and having inner conflicts, offer himself to the enemy who want to engulf his kingdom. When this thing truly happened, his people will not only be grateful toward their king, they will all the more feel remorseful for their ignorant, powerless, weak, and selfish actions. When we have truly understood the King of all kings came to sacrifice for us, from that instance onward, not only are we embarrassed by ourselves and selfish acts, we are also unable to live for ourselves anymore. If our lives cannot understand this, that will be the flesh which we need to put to death through relying on the Holy Spirit everyday. In fact, this earthly example cannot completely depict the sacrifice the King of all kings made as He humbled himself to save His people. Therefore, through the humility of Christ, if men are not born again and repent (surrender himself into the hands of the Lord), it is indeed opposing God in the spirit. Often, we often regard Christ’s sacrifice as the good deed a great man did for all people, but we have yet to comprehend the humiliation and true essence of Christ the Cross. In fact, there is no great man in this world (not religious leader, philanthropist, moral leaders, or martyrs, missionaries), after possessing the place that is considered equality with God, so glorious and almighty, full of wisdom, can humble himself to this extent. Hence, Son of God humbled Himself to death on the cross is a matter that is beyond man’s understanding. When man ask how can the short time frame of 6 hours Jesus died on the Cross save my eternal time? It seems to be inferior to the sufferings and pain many people went through. Actually, we only measure suffering with time and pain, but God put the eternal, dignified and glorious one through the punishment for the sins of all men. Him being given the most humiliating name, hanging on the cross like a flesh and abandoned by all men – this is not something sinners like us can understand. Fallen men like us will never attain the humility and suffering Son of God went through no matter how much trials we suffered or how much we humble ourselves. Therefore, a man who has understood the humiliation and glory of the Cross and touched by Holy Spirit will not only repent for his own sins, he also cannot boast about his own good deeds. Instead, such people will only follow Lord and imitate Christ’s humility all his life.
