A born-again Christian, at the very least, will hope that the family he loves will be saved. This is not a matter of whether the family accepts his religion, but whether they will enter eternal life or death. Because of this reason, when our family members are still not saved, we cannot help but feel sorrowful. At those times, our human nature will find many reasons to explain why do they do not accept Christ: e.g., not open, still performing ancestor worship (idols), etc. Or thinking that our family has not accepted Christ is because we do not have good testimony or have not spent enough time with them. God’s promise is fulfilled in the desire and submission of one who truly believes. However, when our family has yet to accept the Lord, we must know how to intercede for them. First, we should try to understand the reasons why they have not accepted the Lord. Because we know the reasons, we must put our hope in the Lord. This is the other component of our intercession, that is, to have hope. Hope compels us to pray unceasingly. The more hardened our family is, the more we rely on the Lord. Therefore, we must not lose heart from understanding (reasons why our family is hardened), but from the understanding, we rely on the Lord. This is the hope that comes from confirming the promise.
