God created the living man with spirit and gives him complete rest. Only in this rest, can man enjoy the infinite conviction and fulfilment of the Holy Spirit. After man has fallen, the most important thing that he lost is not material wealth, health or relationship, but it is rest. A life without rest, is a life which cannot see the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, Lord Jesus said, “come to me, and I will give you rest.” But rest is not a feeling, nor is it a break time, but it is a state of walking with God. This is like how Adam in <Ge 2> found rest in God, enjoyed all the things that God prepared and enjoyed God’s teamwork. In fact, man has already lost this rest, and not many believers know how to live in this rest. Many believers are busy every day, busy with work, family and serving, etc. Their hearts are not edified and thus the work of their hands will gain nothing. But our Lord Jesus, He is filled by the infinite Holy Spirit. Despite facing this fallen world, limitations of the physical body, busy ministry and attacks from the enemy, His life enjoys complete rest. Actually, to enjoy rest in Christ, is the first submission that God wants from His holy people. However, what is the life of being in rest in Christ? Specifically, first is to enjoy rest; second is to bear fruits. Therefore, when the Lord promised us the Holy Spirit, He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.” Paul taught, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Actually, in submission to God, we must recognise the peace given by God. The more we recognise this peace, the more we will submit to God. Today, many believers do not recognise or seek this peace in their lives. They only act and behave according to their thoughts and desires, so they do not have any peace all day. Actually, God guides us in all things through the Holy Spirit. When our lives are in submission, we will receive the peace in the Lord as the seal of confirmation. Besides peace, submission will also bear inner and outer fruits of our lives. As we walk in the path of submission to God, Holy Spirit will give us the seal of approval in our spirits, and prove to us clearly in our practical living, so that we can get to enjoy rest.
