在生命的培训里,最大的挑战就是如何将我们所认识有关基督福音的知识来叫信徒经历圣灵在心中的坚强。首先,我们会看见大多数的教导犯上的错误(尤其新派与许多现代教义)都是先以情感方面或外在所见的经验来认识圣灵。这样的信徒多半在信仰摇摆不定,容易被不好的感觉或不理想的条件摇动信心,因为认识神的启发是以“感性”开始,不是以“理性”开始。当然,神是个看不见的神,祂向堕落与软弱的人以看得见的方法显示,挑动他们的感性经历,以此认识神是又真又活的。但过后真叫一个人有根有基的认识神与在神里头成长是必定要在理性上规划对神的认识。所以,神把圣经(神的话)启示,叫我们从祂的话语中认识神的属性与作为,好在凡事上得以察验神的美意。但在另一方面,我们又看见时常考究神话语的信徒(大半是保守派信徒),虽在学术上规划了神的话,他们的知识却不能叫人心里的力量刚强。他们不能使人扎心,只能使人受控告;他们不能使人喜爱上帝,只能使人怕神;他们不能使信徒被圣灵激动与引导,只能使信徒多半按着责任、形式、人意过信仰生活。他们虽是强调“理性”方面认识神的重要性,但所得的知识却不能联结与最重要之人的心灵,以致在凡事上看不见那充满万有者的荣耀与同在。事实上,他们没有实际的属灵知识(能得见神的知识),只有头脑的知识。所以,我们知道这等信徒在认识神方面不是学术上需要多增添,乃是多要认识神如何借着信心与爱心住在人里头的奥秘。这信心与爱心是来自「充足的知识,经过确认,与生活联结」才逐渐稳固成长的。在这成长当中也当然少不了与众圣徒之间的互动。所以保罗说:「使基督因你们的信住在你们的心」,也说到「和众圣徒一同明白基督之爱的长阔高深」。
Of the many trainings in life, the greatest challenge is to use our knowledge of gospel of Christ to experience the strength of the Spirit in our hearts. Firstly, we see that the mistakes commited by majority of teachings (especially the new schools and modern doctrine) are that they use the emotions or external experiences to understand the holy spirit. Such believers have waivering faith, and their faith is easily affected by bad feelings or conditions that are less ideal, reason being their knowledge of God is initiated by “feelings” and not “rationality”. Certainly, God is invisible, and He reveals Himself to fallen and weak man in ways that can be seen, provoking their perceptual experiences so that they can come to know this true and living God. However, after that, what really enables one to be rooted and established in his knowledge of God, and to grow in Him, is that he needs to rationally carve out his knowledge of God. Hence, by revelation of the bible (God’s words), God made us understand the His character and works through His words, so that we can examine God’s perfect will in all things. On the other hand, we find believers who often study the word of God (majority being the conservative Christians), despite knowing the word of God ‘academically’, their knowledge fails to empower their inner beings. Instead of stirring the heart of believers (cut to the heart), they make people feel accused; they fail to make people love God but fear God; they cannot cause believers to be fired up or guided by Holy Spirit, instead, they lead believers into a faith dominated by responsibilities, forms and self-motivation. Although they emphasize the importance of knowing God in the “rationale” aspects, the gained knowledge fails to connect with the spirit, thus they cannot see the glory and presence of the almighty in all things. In fact, they do not have the practical knowledge of the spirit (the knowledge of seeing God), what they have is mere head knowledge. Hence, we know that such believers are not deficient in knowing God academically, rather, what has to increase is the mystery of how God is living in man through faith and love. Such faith and love can only grow steadily through [sufficient knowledge, after confirmation, and connect to living]. This growth will inevitably involve the interactions with other saints. Hence Paul said: [that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith], and [together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ].
