What is most pleasing to God is a heart that is able to receive His conviction. That heart is one that is not only fervent in serving, but also able to comprehend God’s profound heart and calls upon Him. In fact, the desires and hopes of a man who understands the gospel and loves God and men are approved by God. These desires will not be put to shame, and they will also reveal the glory that outweighs everything. Today, we see from Paul the state of mind that transcends life and death and his hopes to advance the gospel in all things. Such a heart is the channel that God uses to accomplish all things. Today, many believers misunderstood that they only need to call in the “name of Jesus” or repeatedly pray, then they will see God answering their prayers; some say that you only need to grab hold of a certain portion of God’s promises (example: He will prosper me in all things, I will not be in lack), and repeatedly meditate and pray about it then it would be answered. But ask yourself: Do these methods of asking come from our own ideas and needs? If it is so, even if our prayers get answered, they may not be answers. Because the true answers in prayers is realizing the perfect will in God, and from the perfect will, comprehend His heart, so that we can enjoy being in God’s desires to think, judge and enjoy all things. Actually, as Paul lived for the gospel in all things, he did not emphasize his self-sacrificing heart, but he emphasized God’s grace which enabled him to transcend life and death, but only seek to advance the gospel and live for the benefits of saints. Such a spirit is the most free and joyful and most authoritative, because it made him accomplish great gospel work in any circumstances, according to what he expected and hoped. In fact, the Holy Spirit shines on us infinitely so that we can comprehend God’s grace.If only we do not let our experiences with God be constrained by our own conditions, motives, needs and ideals, and instead comprehend God’s boundless grace (not only gives us salvation, but also gives us the faith to transcend life and death, good times and bad), we would experience the Lord who works infinitely in our hearts to strengthen and anoint us. Today, from Paul’s confession, we see that he was pressed to live on for his calling, but he also desired death to gain. This itself reveals that he already had the truth in his heart. Such a person does not have to prove that he is fervent, or loves God very much, he has already wholly and fervently loved God. What he desires is the same as God, and what he hopes for does not put him to shame. Because, whoever is not afraid to lose will gain, whoever loses his life will find it. Today, we see many believers who have many gifts, passionate about serving and full of knowledge, but in all these, do they have the truth Paul had in his heart? Are we increasingly letting go of the light and momentary, and seeking the eternal glory that outweighs all? In fact, this is the key for a believer to enjoy the great power of the Holy Spirit.
