Many believers have received Christ but some dilemmas still persist in their lives because they have not completely known their Lord, their God. For example: Some have heard the Word but they cannot do it; some often hear the Word but they cannot understand it. There’re some believers who still do not have the power to not love the world even though Holy Spirit is already residing in them; they cannot overcome their own emotions, strong desires etc. There’re some who use all means to get what they want and when they eventually gotten what they desired, they are bounded by them in return. Eg one really wants to be successful, but when he finally succeeded, he will be fearful of losing it; one really desires a relationship, but after having it he becomes bounded by it, it takes away his emotion and times with family, friends and church etc. Although God is always with them and is willing to help them, they often forget to call upon Lord and therefore cannot use the grace of God. Although they have been touched by the love of God, they cannot love the people beside them, unable to enjoy the relationships God has prepared for them, they are bitter envy or lonely. Although we already have the identity that is most dignified and is greatly loved by God, we are often being attacked by the conditions we have or do not have, compare with others and thus losing the balance in our hearts etc. After that, we do not have answers when we are met with certain problems. All believers have many dilemmas. This is also the reason why James wrote the book in the early church. The author of James is half brother of Jesus. He was in disbelief when Jesus was alive on earth, he only believed after Jesus resurrected and specially revealed to him. From the book of James we will see: the church in the era had great financial differences, and the mass were not every wise or filled with love in their speech, therefore there were much fights, pride, lack of concerns, unfair matters etc. As a result, James had to write to them to encourage them. Actually, James did not only talk about actions, more importantly, he asked all to see clearly the sub-consciousness behind their actions – Man wants to be a friend of God (come near to God), or a friend of the world (come near to the world)? His central message is, since we have known and believed in the Lord, we should not be double-minded. Only then can we enjoy all abundance and power in Christ.
