Actually, what’s worse than sinning is man not being truthful to the matters in their hearts. Since the fall of men, men fixed their own solutions (they used fig leaves to cover their embarrassment), they also choose the voices they want to hear from the spiritual world (they are frightened when they hear God’s voice), and in response to God’s voices, men choose to hide away (hide away from God because of fear and shamefulness). Actually, men have entered into a spiritual state of “not being truthful”. Despite God has given men conscience in their hearts to alert them, or lead men to helplessness and good deeds, men choose to either drown away their conscience or create their own moral standards or pietism because of their accused conscience. Even though God has written His laws on the tablets of stone, men only receive it literally, not understanding the essence of “loving God and men” in it.  Instead, they have the sense of self-excellence after having this law. Try asking: is this ignorance? Is one being untruthful? Or we may say that this is the ignorance in men’s untruthfulness. In fact, the bible tells us that be in both special and common revelation, whether the laws are written on the human or the tablets of stone, all mankind has some understanding of God’s presence <1:20> and His kindness <1:32, 2:15>. They suppress the truth, seek and follow their own ways. Therefore, no one can escape the righteous judgment of God. However, God revealed the truth of gospel to us through Christ, and blessed the believers with Holy Spirit. Hence, we need to be truthful in the matters of the spirit (know anew through the truth, experience through the Holy Spirit). We cannot remain in the untruthful thoughts of “judgment hasn’t come”, “my sins are not worse than others”, “what I feel is truth”, “I don’t know what God’s perfect will is”. We have to start knowing the unseen spiritual truth through the truth and Holy Spirit, and be conscious of the ever-present judgment (silent and unseen); we need to discern the voice from the spiritual world (be it the insinuations or deceptions from Satan, the alerts in our conscience, or the perfect will given to us through the Holy Spirit), so that we’re assured in all we do. Today, many believers learn about the book of Romans through theological studies and have grasped the system, but they can be very weak in their spiritual discernment. Try asking ourselves, do we have clear, affirmed answers, and assured footsteps in all things or in all problems we face? Actually, God’s gospel doesn’t merely talk about a young Jew who died on the Cross 2000 years ago, and brought us eternity through his death. Instead, through His death and resurrection, we should hear the voice of judgment and redemption He is speaking to all mankind in these 2000 years. Even today, God is still speaking to our spirits, and hence we need to test and approve truthfully all voices coming from our conscience, and our thoughts. We need to hear the perfect will God is revealing to us daily accurately, for God will reveal the many secrets hidden in our souls on the Day of Judgment. Therefore, only one who faces God truthfully can continue to live fearlessly and boldly.
