If we take God’s word seriously, we will certainly ask ourselves uprightly how much of God’s voice do we hear? Today, many believers go to church ritualistically, but their practical living still flow with the worldly perspective and ideas. To put it more aptly, their living is unrelated to the power of Holy Spirit. On another side, some believers assume that they live by listening to Lord’s voice, yet they have not questioned themselves if they are indeed enjoying the power of Holy Spirit. In fact, we the saints need [power] to live on earth. Before our Lord’s ascension, He instructed the disciples to stay in the city until they have been clothed with power from on high. After listening to God’s voice, can we enjoy this power practically in our living? A husbands need to have power so that the wife can be protected, and in return, willingly love and submit to him; parents need to have power so that their children feel the need to listen to their words; a preacher needs to have power so that the word he preaches can decide the life and death, curse and blessings of the listeners; a worker needs to have power so that doors of evangelism can be opened up in his field. But we ought to know, this heavenly power does not come as desired. This is the power given unto all saints through Christ, but from the saints’ perspective, we need to [know, confirm, experience] this power from God. If we still cannot hear Lord’s voice after listening to the truth, it means that something has gone wrong with our prayers. If we always pray, yet the contents of our prayer have not become our faith, wisdom and holiness etc in living, we should not remain in that “prayer that is unrelated with the power”. There are many stories of great people in the bible, eg Joseph who had outstanding performance and won the hearts of men when he was a slave and prisoner; Daniel who mastered all kinds of knowledge; David who had victory over Goliath and spared Saul’s life twice, all these stories are not only talking about their character, wisdom, and gifts, instead, they are related to the “power given by God”. Actually, the Lord has promised this power through the Holy Spirit. Hence, we need to know that such power has already been given us, and we ought to continue to know and desire such power in our faith. Man has to keep on pursuing the invisible heavenly power in order to know and use that power. As we are living in the last days of the end times and are exposed to many world news and experiences daily, our spirits are also receiving new challenges and attacks daily, causing them to lose this power gradually. Indeed, the mind and thoughts of many believers are occupied by the worldly knowledge; their hearts are robbed by the world; their life is getting busy and are always chasing after many things; therefore, the church has slowly been assimilated into the world. The 2 witnesses (remnants of Jew and Gentile) mentioned by the book of Revelation will come to preach and release the power of Lord, and the world will be judged according to the word they preach. If we put our focus on this area, and learn how to live by seeking and relying on this power especially in this end times, we are indeed the virgins who are preparing the oil for the lamp – meaning, we are the remnants of this era.
