God is love. When God releases His power and bestows many gifts, the grace in grace is thus love. Actually, we are created in such love, redeemed through this love and protected by this love today, so that our faith can be safeguarded. Hence, it is only through meeting, supporting, and co-working in this love can God’s people completely manifest God’s mission of love. Therefore, as Paul prayed for all saints, he could understand how long, deep, high and wide is the love of Christ. Actually, as human, we all need love. In all things created by God, there is nothing in which the meaning of love is not in it. When a man is loved, there is a positive and active energy that comes out naturally from him. He will not destroy his and others’ lives when he is overtly loved. However, because of the spiritual problem that comes upon him when man is fallen, it will cause him to: ① Unable to love correctly and powerfully; ② Unable to accept love. Hence, in God’s great and selfless love, He bestows redemption to save people from the spiritual states of unable to love and unable to accept love, so that man can know the love of the Creator all over again, and return to it. Holy Spirit gives such love in His power, but what kind of love is this? Although love is a gift from God, the truth is “only love” bears no motive in it. There is a motive behind the pursuits of gifts by men (eg: seek for faith to complete mission; seek for eloquence to preach the gospel; seek for wisdom to solve problems etc), but only love is the motive itself. In love, all strengths needed to accomplish the purpose will come naturally. In love, the disciples heard Lord’s voice, were guided by the Holy Spirit to surpass their own limitations. In love, the disciples were persecuted yet they did not fall into pain and desperation; instead, they experienced how grace was added upon grace, bringing more beautiful testimonies. The disciples left the testimonies of love through letters, and these testimonies of letters were passed on for 2000 years till today, displaying how persisting this powerful and influential love is. Actually, if the disciples only know this power but not the love embedded in this power, the power they know will lack the heart; the gospel will never pass on till today. Hence, when the people around us are unable to accept love due to our spiritual problems, we need to be very careful not to turn this love into coldness or flesh. This is because as soon as we lose love in our hearts, we also lose the anointing of Holy Spirit simultaneously; the word we speak, the response we give, and the things we do will lose their influencing power. We ought to ask ourselves, how can we love more practically, with more power and wisdom? Therefore, the love in our hearts ought to increase and not decrease, only then can we break through our individual limitations and advance in spreading the good news.
