序论：《徒16:31》说：“当信主耶稣，你和你一家都必要得救”。这是在圣经给予我们的应许。但是在实际境况当中，当我们看见有一些信徒或是爱主之人的家人似乎在临终前没有呼求耶稣的明显迹象时，我们不禁对神透过保罗讲的这句话感到质疑。有些人说：这句话不能看为家庭福音化的应许，乃是保罗在当时后给予腓立比禁卒的劝勉。其实，我们不需要进到对这句话的议论。无论如何，这是神在祂的仆人传福音当中受圣灵感动所说的话，这句话也是在在当时成就出来。所以，我们不能因看见这句话在有些情况似乎“没有成就”，然后就对此话有另外的结论。确实，我们信徒的心灵是尊贵的，当我们的心受圣灵感动为某些人的灵魂有负担或迫切时，那个的感动绝对不是偶然的。特别，神给予我们骨肉之情，倘若我们是真信基督的，我们对他们的骨肉之情加上了为他们救恩的迫切，主怎么不会听那等的祷告呢？并且，当我们单以人的境况来下定论，我们同时要明白人间有各种相对的情况。有时，我们要问某人真的信服神的应许而继续实际的为家人的救恩祷告吗？我们是否因神的应许而不屈不挠的向家人传福音吗？倘若是，我们又以什么来断定我们这么多年向家人、亲友或是好友的传福音是恍然的呢？乔治慕勒牧师在刚信主时就为五个要好的朋友的救恩祷告。有两个朋友在他信主两年之后就接受了神的救恩。另外三个朋友的救恩特别的炼净他。当他不断的为他们祷告时，其中一个在穆勒牧师信主十年后才信了主。至于最后两个，其中一个在乔治牧师的丧礼信了主，最后那个在乔治牧师临终一年后信了主。整体来看，乔治牧师从信主后不断的为着五位好友祷告，神透过了整整五十二年来成就他的祷告。这样的成就是何等荣耀的成就，也给予我们今日为家人亲友的祷告何等大的勉励。特别，在乔治牧师为最后两位一直迟迟不信主的朋友祷告时，他越祷告，他的希望是越放在主（不是放在结果）。最后，他心中所得的一个答案是：“他们还未信，但最终会信”。最后在他过世后也实在的成就了。其实，他按着神的应许而祷告所得着的还不纯粹是那结果，乃是他那”越祷告，越有确据”的心，以至那成为了他一生服侍主与面对各种危难的信心。今天，很多信徒在为家人或好友祷告时一直关注的是一个结果。他们认为说只要我实际看见我所祷告的样样都成就出来，我就会有信心继续祷告。其实，这样的认识是欠缺的。结果，并非是我们每个人能够亲眼看见的，但神的应许是已经成就的。倘若我们按着神的应许来祷告顺服，我们反而是越会得着圣灵亲自的勉励。这当中，主可能会让我们看见一些实际的结果，但也会向我们的肉眼隐藏一些我们渴盼的结果，为的就是要我们以祂的应许来亲近祂，不断的依靠祂。当我们因信祂的应许而遵行祂的旨意时，我们反而会得着的最美的结果，就是凡事上的信心。

<Ac 16:31> says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” This is the promise that is given in the Bible. However, in actual situations, when we don’t see clear signs from family members of believers calling out for Jesus before they passed on, we will start to doubt these words that Paul said. Some people say that this verse cannot be seen as the promise of gospelisation, but it is an encouragement that Paul gave to the Philippian jailer. Actually, we do not need to debate about this verse. No matter what, this is what God inspired His servant to say when he was preaching the gospel, and the words were fulfilled then. Therefore, we cannot come to another conclusion just because this verse does not seem to be ‘fulfilled’ in other situations. Indeed, the heart of a believer is dignified. When our heart is convicted by the Holy Spirit to have burden and urgency for the souls of some people, it is not out of the blue. Especially, since God has given us familial love, if we truly believe in Christ, why would He not answer our prayers that are founded on familial love and urgency for their salvation? Also, when we make judgments from a person’s circumstances, we must understand there are all kinds of relative situations. Sometimes, we must ask if a person is truly believing and obeying God’s promise and continuously and practically praying for the salvation of family members? Are we spreading the gospel to family relentlessly because of God’s promise? If so, how can we conclude that our efforts over many years to evangelise to families, relatives and friends are futile? Pastor George Mueller started to pray for the salvation for 5 good friends soon after he accepted Christ. Two of them accepted Christ two years after he did. The salvation of three other friends continued to refine him. When he prayed for them unceasingly, one of them accepted the Lord 10 years later. As for the last two, one of them accepted the Lord at Pastor George’s wake. The last one converted one year later. Looking at the whole picture, Pastor George started praying for the 5 friends after he accepted Christ and God took a total of 52 years to answer all of them. This is a glorious accomplishment and also a great encouragement to those who are praying for their families and friends today. As Pastor George was praying for the last two friends who did not believe until much later, the more he prayed, the more he put his hope on the Lord (not on the outcome). In the end, the answer he received in his heart was, “they have yet to believe, but will ultimately believe”. It was indeed fulfilled after he passed away. Actually, when he prayed according to the Lord’s promise, what he received was not the outcome, but a heart which was “more assured as he prayed”. And that becomes a faith he brought with him as he served the Lord and confronted all kinds of dangers. Today, many believers are just focused on the outcome when praying for families and friends. They think that if they can practically see what they have prayed for being fulfilled, they will have faith to continue praying. Actually, such understanding is incomplete. Outcome is not something everyone can personally see, but God’s promises are already fulfilled. If we prayed to submit according to God’s promises, we will personally receive the encouragement from the Holy Spirit. In the midst of this, the Lord may allow us to see some practical outcomes but may also hide the outcomes we hope for from our eyes, so that we will draw close to Him because of His promises and rely on him unceasingly. When we obey His will because we believe in His promises, we will in fact receive the most beautiful outcome, which is the faith in all things
