Our theme this year is to connect “healing” and “wisdom” together. Actually, our heart needs to receive two crucial blessings – first, it is to receive healing, for indeed our hearts are ill-stricken by our sinful nature, and thus in need of healing; second is to have understanding, so that we can understand the works of God that are not comprehensible by people or certain situations. Some believers are inclined to pursue one area, therefore, their faith experience is always incomplete. Some believers come to the church to listen to the Word daily, but their hearts remain narrow, subjective, and receive hints easily. When the circumstances are less ideal, they will fall into helplessness, or their temper will be triggered, or they will be depressed. They cannot quiet down, and examine the good, perfect and pleasing will of God. In all these, the main issue is that they have listened to a lot of Truth, but little do they receive into their hearts. Why? Because they hearts are not healed. This is like a sick person who cannot digest the food, and thus an unhealed heart cannot receive the Truth of God. Besides, some believers are cautious about the issues in their hearts, thus they focus on pursuing healing of their hearts, yet they have never questioned what should the outcome of the healing, or what would they look like if they are healed? Try thinking: why does he always remain in the state of seeking healing? Actually, he has not understood that, the way God heals him is to lead him to a heart of understanding, such that he can know the Truth of God, rely on the Truth and Holy Spirit in all things. Just as a healed body, a healed heart is a heart of understanding, and it can face the various challenges and trials in life. Today, many healing ministries of church do not bring people to such understanding, instead, they only dwell on comforting the emotions and liberation. As such, many believers often transit between churches to receive healing and liberation, but their inner hearts, family, interpersonal, living conditions, have not changed. They only seek liberation, yet unable to have understanding in all things through knowing the Truth. Simply put, our understanding of healing and the direction of healing are wrong. In year 2017, the year of overcoming reality, God had given us many realities. Sometimes, we face the busyness and tiredness of work, sometimes we are stressed by our children’s learning, those leading ssg face the weaknesses of their members, singles still face the struggle of singlehood, some still hope to have a child, or hope that their family members will believe in the Lord… Indeed, we human do love surprises, or being set free from our circumstances. But if our circumstances do not seem to change, how should we respond? What kind of hearts should we carry before these circumstances? Often, we are just being dragged along, and we walk on with those struggles. Sometimes, we endure and keep on walking, but we cannot walk for long. At times we have a hope, but when the hope does not come true, we become disappointed. Indeed, in all these realities, we need to understand God’s Word and His works, so that we can enter into the peace and joy of Holy Spirit.
