我们人都有需要，即便是心灵的需要或是肉身的需要，我们都渴望得满足。有些人在悟性上多有需要，渴望多认识，多学习。有的人在情感方面有需要，喜欢多结交朋友，也需要常常有人能让他倾诉。有的人在物质方面（衣食住行）有需要。确实，我们人都经历过有需要与需要不得满足的痛苦。人的需要有时是因着自己的罪性而来，但有时候也是因着人性而来。罪性使我们因着惧怕和贪心而想要多得。但人性确实有一些真实的需要，且需要得满足。当一个有病的人想要健康，一个单身的人想要结婚，一对结了婚的夫妇想要有儿女，一个活在惧怕的人想要有平安等，这里面都有人性合理的需要。其实，人有需要就显示他是被一个赐予者所造的，且需要祂。当人一直在自己的需要里徘徊，这就显示他需要那赐予者，而那赐予者就是神自己了。祂创造了人，也要成为他们随时的供应与满足者。唯有神是没有需要，因为祂是自有永有，也是不会被消耗的，但只要是被造物，我们都有需要。但重点是，在我们的需要中，我们要晓得怎么得满足。有些人认为只要一个人属灵的话，他就没有需要。其实，这是错误的认识，且是扭曲属灵人的人性。属灵人也有需要，只是知道怎么从神得满足，不是自己寻找满足。属灵人懂得享受神所赐的，不是进到受需要辖制而落入更缺乏的光景。大卫说：「耶和华是我的牧者，我必不致缺乏」。他也实际的享受了神给他的青草地和可安歇的水边《诗23:1-2》。保罗也宣告说：「我的神必照他荣耀的丰富，在基督耶稣里使你们一切所需用的都充足」《腓4:19》。确实，属灵人知道自己的需要，也看见神满足他们，而当他们每次见证了神的供应，他们的心灵越是能看见神荣耀的丰富。人唯有常常如此看见神的荣耀，自己的需要也才能很正常与时常的经历祂的满足。试想：我们的生命是不是一直看不见神荣耀的丰富呢？即便是心灵或是肉身，我们是否少体验神的满足呢？我们是否一直怀着那种“神不满足我，神只要求我”的信念呢？倘若是，我们慢慢就会发现自己的信仰劳苦担重担。确实，有的信徒常侍奉主，但心里没有恩惠，且没有喜乐。他们对上帝（供应者）的错误观念与少有的经历叫他们的服侍越来越失去恩典，不但自己活在压力也给人压力。有的信徒也因着自己长久的活在这样受压与不喜乐当中寻求另一种满足，以致渐渐落入试探，放纵肉体的情欲。有的甚至落入掩耳不听真道，偏向荒谬的言语《提后4:4》。他们以神的话来寻找肉身的满足，落入那种不背十字架的信仰。这等人因为领受了不对的灵，所以活在假象，认为信什么与渴望什么就会从神得着。确实，我们对福音的误解必定带来另一种偏激，而这些人都因自己的需要跌倒了。他们所信所追求的都无法荣耀那满足我们心灵与肉身的神。《罗8:32》说：「神既不爱惜自己的儿子，为我们众人舍了，岂不也把万物和他一同白白地赐给我们吗？」在此，神不但将独生子赐给我们，也应许将万物赐予我们，满足我们真实的需要。我们要谨慎不因需要跌倒，乃要因需要蒙恩，因为神是满足我们需要的神，且是借此得荣耀的神。但我们的罪性很容易叫我们因需要而软弱，甚至按着自己的意思直接得满足，所以我们一定要学习如何在圣灵的引导之下被神丰盛的供应得满足。

We humans have many needs. Whether it is spiritual or carnal needs, we all hope to receive contentment. Some people in particular need to understand, hope to know and learn more. Others have more emotional needs, in that they enjoy socialising and often need people to listen to them. There are also people who yearn for material needs (basic needs). In reality, we humans experience the agony when we are in need or when our needs are not satisfied. Some of our needs stem from our sinful nature, but sometimes are also due to our human nature. Our sinful nature cause us to want more out of fear or greed. However, there are also real needs and the need to receive contentment due to our human nature in reality. When a sick person wishes to have good health, or a single wants to get married, or a married couple wants to have children, or a person living in fear wants to receive peace etc., it is from reasonable human nature within them. Actually, the needs of humans reveal that they are created by a Giver and they need Him. When people keep wandering because of their own needs, it shows that they need that Giver and that Giver is none other than God Himself.  He created humans and wants to be their provider and source of contentment at any time. Only God has no needs because He is who He is, He will not be consumed. However, as a created being, we all have needs. The important thing is, when we are in need, we must know how to be contented. Some people misunderstand that as long as a person is spiritual, he will no longer have any real need. Not only is this wrong, it also twists the human nature in a spiritual person. A spiritual person also has needs, but he knows how to receive contentment from God and not try to find satisfaction using his own means. A spiritual person knows how to enjoy what God has given and does not end up in a situation where he is controlled by needs or experience great lack. David said, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want.” He practically enjoyed the green pastures and quiet waters given to him by God <Ps 23:1-2>. Paul also declared, “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” <Php 4:19> Truly, a spiritual person knows what he needs and also needs how God satisfies him. And each time he testifies God’s providence, the more his spirit is able to see the glorious riches of God. It is only when a person can often see God’s glory, he can naturally and often experience the satisfaction of God in his needs. Think about this, are our lives often in a state where we often cannot see the glorious riches of God? Whether it is spiritual or carnal, have we experienced contentment in God? Do we often harbour thoughts that “God does not satisfy but only request from me”? If it is so, we will gradually discover that our faith is weary and burdensome. In reality, there are believers who often serve God but they do not have grace in their heart and are not joyful. Their misunderstanding towards God (Provider) and the lack of experience with Him caused them to less blessed, the more they serve. Not only do they give themselves pressure, they also give pressure to those around them. With long period of living under such pressure and not having joy, some believers seek other forms of contentment and gradually fall into temptations and give in to the desires of their flesh. Some even end up turning their ears away from the Truth and turn aside to myths <2Ti 4:4>. They use the word of God to seek carnal satisfaction and ends up in a faith that does not carry the Cross. As these people received an incorrect spirit, they live in delusion and believe that they will receive from God whatever they believe or desire. In reality, such misunderstanding in the gospel bring us to another extreme. Some people stumble because of their needs.  What they believe and pursue is unable to glorify the God who satisfy our hearts and body. It is stated in <Ro 8:32>, “He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, graciously gives us all things?” Hence, God not only give us His only Son, He also promised to give us all things and satisfy our practical needs. We must be cautious not to fall because of our needs but be blessed through them. This is because God is one who satisfies our needs and as a result He receives all the glory. However, our sinful nature easily causes us to become weak because of our needs, to the extent that we receive contentment through our own will. Therefore, we must learn how to receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit to receive contentment from God’s abundance.
