Actually, people do not need many things. They just need what they need at any given point in time (there and then). When David defeated Goliath, he only needed a sling and a stone. For Joseph to become the ruler of Egypt, he only needed to be able to explain the Pharaoh’s dreams at that point in time. For Daniel to become the prime minister of Babylon, he only needed to know what dream Nebuchadnezzar had at that time and explained the dream. In fact, all these were revealed by God to His servants at that point in time. At those points in time, they received help from God, and things were just accomplished. Often, the obstacle we have when doing many things is that we always think we need a lot of time, energy, and anointing to get things done. For example: How long it takes for us to do the housework, how much energy we need to teach our children, how much anointing we need to lead a small group or Sunday school, etc. But often, time and energy is never enough, and anointing also does not come. Although we often feel that we will not receive what David, Daniel and Joseph had received during their time, we must believe that God is willing to extend such grace, and hence pray for grace, thereby entering into a life of walking with God in all things, 24 hours a day. Indeed, it is not only a conceptual feeling to walk with God, but to hear God in all things, and to practically receive God's help at the given time. If the state of our serving continues to be one where our strength falls short of our will, it means that our hearts already cannot hear the voice of God. Not only are we not guided by the Holy Spirit, we are instead led by our worries and helplessness. Paul said in <Phil 4:13>, “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” In making such a declaration, in hunger, he must have experienced the hardships that God gave him to endure hunger. When he was well-fed, his heart was filled with thankfulness. In need, he was content with living a simple life in those conditions. In plenty, he was able to share with others. Often, he had the joy of being contented. This joy reveals that Paul's heart was not more negative during adversity, nor was he more complacent when things were smooth. He always could live in the power of trusting the Lord. Actually, the critical point is whether we can see and experience the help of the Lord at any given point in time. When we witness the Lord's help, our lives will start to have faith in the Lord and see God's ever-present help and provision, such that we are filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit when we do all things. This joy is the evidence that our heart is already protected. We will not be shaped to become more selfish, inferior, filled with self-pity or grievances, and or become timid in times of adversity. In addition, we will also not become more proud, full of ourselves, complacent or unrestrained because of a smooth-sailing life. Over time, we will build up the path that leads to heaven such that we can talk to God and rely on Him in all things. Therefore, even when we are busy, tired, are faced with all kinds of adversity, or smooth-sailing, peaceful or healthy life, and all kinds of situations, our hearts may declare, “I can do everything through the Lord”. Actually, after all, we have to acknowledge one truth, we do not need a lot of things. Let us not be afraid of challenges or worry about tomorrow. Let us acknowledge that we only need the help of God, and at any given point in time and in things which we encounter, we ask for the help of the Lord and experience His faithfulness.
