神赐给教会传福音的、教导的教师和牧养的牧师。从神所赐给教会的角色,我们会知道一个健全的教会是一定会传福音。传了福音之后,将人带入教会,一定要让人受教导和牧养。那么在教导和牧养的实际运作中,我们会知道特别当教会人数增多,小组有他一定的需要与功能。在《出18:21》,摩西的岳父告诉摩西说:并要从百姓中拣选有才能的人,就是敬畏神、诚实无妄、恨不义之财的人,派他们做千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长、十夫长,管理百姓”。从这里,我们看见主的工作虽是扩展性的,但也是细密性的。其实,当一个教会到了三四十人,若没有小组,有些人就得不到牧养,渐渐变得瘦弱了。教会里自然会有成群结队的现象出现,然后有些人在教会的聚会中也开始被忽略。另外,在我们考虑到门徒的培训,我们也会知道若没有小组的运作,门徒的生命总是不能被建立起来。这如同我们主耶稣的门徒小组里,他总是与十二个门徒在一起,花时间亲密的与他们交通与谈论主的话。确实,在我们人有限的空间与时间里,我们若要很细密与实际的牧养人,十二个人以内才能有果效的施行。若我们真的看一下我们实际的小组,有时小组人数差不多10个人左右,我们就会看见有些小组员不多加分享了。当然,这可能也是人有不同个性,比较在乎自己隐私的理由,或是组长且还要多受恩膏之处。但若我们要深入的认识、接触与培养一个人的生命,我们的小组也的确不能太过多人,但我们也要有足够的群人来彼此互动。有些人说最理想的人数是7-8位。那时,大家都能很舒服的坦诚分享,也能有足够的肢体给予不同的见解。当然,人数方面是一点,但也不是绝对的因素。不同的小组能继续探讨人数的事,但是我们更要问的是小组里面所供应的内容是什么。有些小组则是来吃吃喝喝,谈天说地,没有借着神的话实际的教导与牧养。这样的小组缺乏方向,只建立在人的友情和欢乐中。有的小组过度的教导,像是另外一趟主日讲道,组员们无法将自己的难处与挣扎分享,心里便一直软弱无助。这样的情况久了,也会削弱圣灵在小组里的工作。再就是,有些小组也会落入一种舒服状态,以至失去传福音与接纳慕道友的光景。我们主耶稣十二个人的小组是一直被差派去传福音与服侍国度的事。所以,当一个小组无法达成那个功用,只有保持让大家感觉很舒服,那小组长也要受挑战来按时教导组员。有时,我们在教会界看见一些很盛行的小组活动,有如幸福小组。据说也曾经很多做细胞小组的教会也开始要做幸福小组。那我们也要明白为何有这样的小组出现?那就是因为现有传统性的小组不能达成传福音的果效,所以新的一种小组模式又出现。其实,我们当然不能一层不变的做事工,但我们也要知道教会里各种事工(包括小组事工)都是圣灵亲自带领的。若我们看到其他人做的有功效,就以一样的模式来施行,我们也未必会达成一样的果效。所以,我们教会在小组工作一定要受圣灵的引导,且从小组的本质方面要看起。这样我们才能明确的受圣灵引导。
God gives the church evangelists, teachers, and pastors who shepherd. From the roles God has given to the church, we will know that a healthy church will definitely evangelize. After sharing the gospel and bringing people into the church, these people must be taught and shepherded. Then in practical teaching and shepherding, we will know that small groups have certain needs and functions, especially when the numbers in the church increase. In <Ex 18:21>, Moses’ father-in-law told him, “But select capable men from all the people---men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain---and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.” From here, we see that the work of the Lord is extensive but it is also meticulous. In fact, when a church reaches thirty or forty people, if there is no small group, some people will not be shepherded and will gradually weaken. People will naturally gather in cliques in the church, and then some people will begin to feel neglected in church meetings. In addition, when we consider the training of disciples, we also know that without the operation of small groups, the lives of the disciples cannot be built up. This is like the small group of disciples with our Lord Jesus. He was always with the twelve disciples, intimately spending time communicating with them and discussing about the Lord's word. Indeed, in the limited space and time of man, if we want to be very close and to practically shepherd a group, a small group within 12 people will be effective. If we really look at our own small groups, when the group size is about 10 people, we will see that some group members do not share more. Of course, this may also be because people have different personalities, are more concerned about their privacy, or the group leader needs more anointing. But if we want to know, get in touch with and nurture a person's life more deeply, our small group cannot have too many people, yet we must have enough people to interact with each other. Some people say that the optimal number is 7-8. At that time, everyone can share comfortably and honestly, and there are also enough members to give different opinions. Of course, the group size is just one part and it is not an absolute factor. Different small groups can continue to explore the optimal size of the group, but we have to ask what is the content in the small group. Some small groups come to eat, drink, talk, and members are not practically taught and shepherded through the Word of God. Such small groups lack direction and are built up upon friendship and joy. Some other small groups over-teach, such that the sharing becomes another Sunday speech and members cannot share their difficulties and struggles. Hence, their hearts continue to be weak and helpless. Prolonging of such a situation will also weaken the work of the Holy Spirit in the small group. Then again, some groups will fall into a state of comfort, or be in a situation where they stop evangelizing or are unable to accept new friends. Our Lord Jesus’ group of Twelve continued to be sent to evangelize and serve the Kingdom. Therefore, when a small group cannot achieve that function, and only maintains in keeping everyone feeling comfortable, the group leader should also be challenged to teach the group members appropriately. Sometimes, we see some very popular group activities in the church community, like the “happiness group”. It is said that many churches that have cell groups have also begun to form such “happiness group”. Then we have to understand why such groups come about? That is because the existing traditional small groups cannot achieve the effect of evangelism, and so a new group model emerges. Of course, we certainly cannot just continue to do the same work without any change, but we also need to know that the various ministries in the church (including the small group ministry) are led by the Holy Spirit. If we merely model after what other churches do because we see that what they did was effective, we may not achieve the same effect. Therefore, our church’s small group ministry must be guided by the Holy Spirit, and we must begin by looking at the essence of the small group. In this way, then we can be clearly guided by the Holy Spirit.
