每当我们谈到有关“主权”或“权利”时，我们人就开始感觉到不太自在。因为我们对拥有权利的人都带有质疑。在一般人的潜在意识中，有主权就等于霸道、专制，甚至是会带来人滥用权利而腐败。这是因为我们生在有罪的意识里，活在有罪的世界里，也曾经多多少少受到有罪之人的欺压。可能有些人想到一些暴君或政客，就联想到他们是怎么滥用权利来危害人。或者有些人在公司里曾被上司欺负就对独裁的人感到非常反感。或者有些人曾经被自己所信任的父母伤害，就从此对“主权性”的概念带有抗拒。有些人从来没有看过在他之上的人完全无私的善用权利。因此，人总认为说一个有爱的人不应该有绝对的主权，他应该是会比较质询性或民主性的，参考众人的提议才决定。但是，若我们带着这样的观念来认识圣洁的神，那是错谬的，且是危险的。倘若神是与世人分别不同的，祂的慈爱、公义、智慧等都远胜于世人。若我们不愿将主权交给祂，或是认为祂预定与拣选的特权是不应该的，那么我们人就无法受到祂主权的保护了。我们只能在自己有限、狭窄，甚至是污秽的性情里打转，不将造物主的主权给祂，自己有罪的性情也不能受到约束。有些人可能认为自己有权利与选择能掌控自己的命运，因此不需信上帝。问题是就算我们不信从祂，祂也不会因我们的不信而改变。但我们因不信祂而会产生一定的后果，就是与祂隔绝。《赛55:8-9》耶和华说：“我的意念非同你们的意念，我的道路非同你们的道路。天怎样高过地，照样，我的道路高过你们的道路，我的意念高过你们的意念。”我们有哪一个人能比上帝更晓得万事呢？像现在的疫苗，即便政府一直提倡，但是因为没有人知道这么短期发明的疫苗输入人体后会有什么副作用，所以许多人都处在质疑里。《民23:19》又说：神非人，必不至说谎；也非人子，必不至后悔。他说话岂不照着行呢？他发言岂不要成就呢？从这句话，我们又会晓得我们人无法拥有绝对的主权是因为我们是善变的。我们决定了一件事情之后又改变主意。我们的想法与感受不管是因外在或内在因素都不断的在改变。因此，人一定要认识那不变的神，且认定祂在一切事上的主权。今天，在教会里有一个常避开的教导就是有关神的主权。因为这样的教导不容易合乎人性。人喜爱的是大众所接纳的相爱与和睦，但是一旦谈到神的主权，我们会发现我们很多不能解释的。有些人问：为什么神不给我们这么多条路，只给我们唯一得救的路，基督？或者有的问：为什么神不预定拯救所有的人，乃只拣选某些人，使他们能听信神的福音？这些都是与神的主权有关系的课题。若我们对这些话题避讳不谈，就无法让人看见神的圣洁了。神的圣洁与祂的主权是息息相关的。

Whenever we talk about “sovereignty” or “privilege”, we humans will start to feel uncomfortable. Because we all have some doubts on those who have sovereignty. In the subconsciousness of people in general, sovereignty is equivalent to domineering and autocracy, and it may even lead to abuse of power and corruption. This is because we are born being conscious of sin, we live in a sinful world, and have more or less been oppressed by sinful people. Perhaps some people may think of some tyrants or politicians, and think of how they harm people by abusing their power. Or some people may have been bullied by their superior at work and hence feel very turned off by dictatorship. Or some people have been hurt by the parents they trusted and have since resisted the concept of “sovereignty”. Some people have never seen those above them use their rights in a completely selfless manner. Therefore, people will always think that those with love should not have absolute sovereignty. He should be more consultative or democratic, and make decisions based on everyone’s suggestions. However, if we know the holy God with such a mentality, it is wrong and also very dangerous. If God is different from the people of this world, His love, righteousness and wisdom, etc far exceed that of people of this world. If we are unwilling to surrender our sovereignty to Him, or if we think that His privilege to predestine and choose are inappropriate, then we humans cannot be protected by His sovereignty. We can only revolve around our finite, narrow, and even unclean dispositions. Without giving Him the Creator's sovereignty, our sinful dispositions cannot be completely restrained. Some people may think that they have the right and choice to control their own destiny, so there is no need to believe in God. The problem is, even if we do not believe in Him, He will not change because of our unbelief. But when we do not believe in Him, there will be a definite consequence, which is we will be separated from Him. <Isa 55:8-9> The Lord said, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Which of us know all things better than God? Like the current vaccine, even though the government has been advocating it, no one knows what side effects a vaccine invented within such a short period of time will have after being injected into the human body, therefore, many people are in doubt. <Num 23:19> also says, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” From this sentence, we will know that we humans cannot have absolute sovereignty because we are always changing. We change our minds after deciding on something. Our thoughts and feelings are constantly changing due to external or internal factors. Therefore, humans must know the unchanging God and acknowledge His sovereignty in all things. Today, there is a teaching that is often avoided in the church – which is about the sovereignty of God. Because such teaching does not easily fit well with human nature. What people love is the love and harmony accepted by the general public, but when it comes to the sovereignty of God, we will find that there are many things we cannot explain. Some people ask, “Why doesn’t God give us many ways, but only one way to be saved – through Christ?”  Or some ask, “Why doesn't God predestine to save all people, but only choose certain people such that they can hear and believe in God's gospel?” These are topics related to the sovereignty of God. If we avoid talking about these topics, we will not be able to let people see the holiness of God. The holiness of God is closely related to His sovereignty.
