God has given all of His life to us. For people who are born again in Christ, there will be no good thing apart from God. However, if Christ is not what we want, and the things we are seeking and relying on are not His spiritual blessings and power, our pursuit and things we rely on will definitely make us fall. It doesn’t occur in future but now, clearly manifested in the world that does not know God. When Jesus came, 2 types of people were stumbled by Christ. First the King Herod. Despite being the king of Jews, he had never truly known the true king of Jews – Christ. In return, what he loved and valued most was his own political power and personal gains. He represents the political power and self autonomy pursued by the world. In the end, he had slaughtered many people around him, including his family and wife, in order to gain the political power and benefits he desired. Therefore, if we were to allow any worldly knowledge or the need of the flesh to seize us,  not surrendering ourselves to the guidance of Christ and Holy spirit, we will eventually be confused and stumbled. Another type of persons are the chief priests and teachers of the law. They were the religious leaders of the Jews with rich knowledge of the old testament, they understood various religious principles and participated in various religious ceremonies and processes. However, they had never understood the essence of God’s words nor be transformed by the renewing of minds. In fact, the knowledge they learnt did not lead to their submission to God. Although they knew Christ was born in Bethlehem, they had never gone to find out this true king of Jews. In return, when Christ was born, God’s spirit convicted Magi from the east (the Gentiles). They saw the star and followed it. Upon receiving the news of Christ was to be born at Bethlehem, they immediately set off to search for Christ, the one who was born to be king, and they were overjoyed when they saw Him. Actually, these are the people who submit to God, thus they will surely find it if they seek.
