After a “year of crossing individual boundaries”, we will realize that we need to face many “realities”. Perhaps some meet the limitations of the surrounding and current situations, eg: it isn’t easy to integrate church-living with daily living, or it is difficult to love those whom we do not get along well with, or the difficulty of coming out of comfort zone, engage people, and evangelize etc. Indeed, there are challenges in such circumstances. Besides, perhaps some people may see deeper, assuming that the greatest “reality” is not the problem with surrounding or current situation but that of self-limitation. Eg: the limitation in love, wisdom, and power. Whatever it is, it is good to be able to see and face this reality. If not, we will linger in our false images or self-deception. As a result, the Word of God proclaimed by us, or the vision given us, will become an abstract slogan, or just being a mental charge up for God only, for there is no intention and determination to submit. Indeed, people who truly want to submit will at least ask “how to do it” when they cannot. After, those who are submitting now will surely reach a point where they start asking, “why is it that I am unable to submit continuously?” Today, churches preach much about “we can!”, but little do they preach “why cant we?” Why do they dare not speak such words? Because they do not dare to face the reality of “I cannot”, neither are they willing to acknowledge the “unwilling” states they may be in. Actually, as we live in this sinful world, with a sinful body, how can we live out God’s will easily? Certainly, Holy Spirit will help us. However, we normal beings must continue to seek the revealed truth of God in order to see; we need to examine so as to know, we need to rely on it in order to triumph over them. Have we sought, examined, and relied? And do we seek, examine, and rely according to the Truth of God, or our own ideals? In fact, a lot of believers have not made it clear in these basic fundamentals (truth, Holy Spirit), and why is it so? This is because they do not face the reality. We live in two kinds of realities. Firstly, it is the reality of the spiritual world, secondly, the big nature of the external world. The spiritual world we live in are full of spiritual battles, hence we are made to deal with the lies, oppressions, helplessness etc in the spirit. No matter how seasoned we are in the Lord, the moment we are weak in meditating on God’s word or interactions, we will be attacked in the spirit immediately. This is a true reality we have to face. Besides, we live in flesh, and come into contact with the external environment. Therefore, our faith is easily influenced by words, busy schedule, tiredness, hunger, and less ideal situations. In our journey of faith, these situations are not to make us into escapists, but  to overcome them through relying on the Lord. When we are strengthened through God’s Word and brethren living, we need to prepare our hearts to face the environment that are coming to us, not becoming frustrated easily in trials of many kinds, or always look for miracles. If such is the case, our Christian faith will walk in the direction of increasingly powerlessness and strengthless. To the people of the world, the reality is brutal. But to us who are God’s children, the reality and current situations are areas where God wants to have victories through us. Only as we face and overcome them can we truly enjoy the great power of the Gospel.
