主耶稣在受难之前向门徒应许圣灵，告诉他们说父要赐下圣灵保惠师，永远与他们同在《约14:16》。主在升天之前也告诉门徒圣灵要降临在他们身上，使他们得着能力，将福音传到地极《徒1:8》。保罗也告诉圣徒们要被圣灵充满。特别在现今世代的邪恶中，圣徒唯有被圣灵充满，才能成为智慧人，且明白神的旨意，不被世界同化《弗5:15-18》。圣灵就是神，祂使信徒认识神的道，也赐他们能力活出神的道。在我们人生中最难的时刻，圣徒唯有被圣灵充满才能刚强壮胆。在最大的属灵争战与完成最大的使命中（将福音传到地极），唯有被圣灵充满才能得胜。因此，在历史历代中，圣民都渴盼得着从圣灵而来的能力、智慧与恩赐。特别，当我们看见这时代的人有强大的意志力、超然的天资、卓越的表现或伟大的成就，我们里头就有一种向往要追求一种神奇的能力与解脱，以此为圣灵的能力，也就从这里开始我们就走错了。确实，有许许多多的信徒是因此偏向错误的经历，用到不对的能力，甚至是发明了不对的教导。其实，当我们被圣灵充满时，可能我们的情况条件没有经历什么特别的大改变（例如：可能我们的IQ没有忽然上升到200，我们不会忽然间成为很有恩赐与才能的人，我们也不会忽然间看见周围很多人要信耶稣），但因为圣灵充满我们，使我们心里确信了神的话，围绕我们的属灵世界全然改变了，我们的周围的现象环境也逐渐改变。这就如同约瑟、大卫、但以理、保罗这样的人被圣灵充满时（信从了神的话），围绕他们的属灵世界是先改变了。众天使天军服役的工作大大的临到了，所以下面他们实际影响他们的环境与时代的事情才渐渐发生。确实，我们先要明白一个人在心灵里透过基督与神的道经历了神的同在的事情，我们才能明白何谓“做比主所做更大的事”《约14:12》。倘若我们自认圣灵的工作都是外在条件与环境所带来的感悟，不是从遵行神的话而发自出来的感悟，我们对圣灵能力的认识就会本末倒置，在灵混乱的时代就会很容易被欺骗。所以，我们先要问自己是否在自己的问题、挣扎、天天的繁忙中追求被圣灵充满呢？与其我们常常动脑经想办法、靠自己的聪明意志行事、承受很多无谓的压力、因每天繁杂的事进到无助无奈中，我们有否看见被圣灵充满的重要性？另外，我们还要问一个很关键的问题，就是被圣灵充满是否是“体验性”的？当圣灵施行祂的工作在我们身上时，我们是否在那时刻能确知与体验到圣灵的充满？当我们问一些对圣灵的认识比较保守的信徒，常会发现他们对圣灵的经历是“推论性”的，不是“体验性”的。就比如：当我们问他们怎么知道自己得着了圣灵？他们会说：“哦，因为我开始来了教会，听到神的话语时有感动，也继续有一颗要远离罪的心”，所以我才知道我里头有圣灵了。或问说：“你怎么知道圣灵充满你？”答案往往是：“因为我不断的遵行神的话，按部就班的活出基督徒的喜乐与德行”。要不然就是生命堂肢体常概括性地说：“我继续活在24小时的以马内利中，那就是圣灵充满我了”。若我们仔细的省察，就会发现这样的说法是“推论性”的经历圣灵，就是说：我们必须透过一些客观性的经历与一段时间才能推论出圣灵在我身上的作为。纵然这样的说法没有错，且是保守的，但是我们对圣灵的经历更必须达到“体验性”的，就是在当时当事，当圣灵充满我们时，我们应该是能体验与经历得到，也确知那就是圣灵正在感动与充满我们，以至我们能够与祂同步同行。要不然，我们对圣灵的经历总是留在“事后朱葛亮”的推论说法。当然我们无法认识圣灵无限的作为，但我们在应对许多关键性的挑战时，我们必须在当时当事体验圣灵是怎么感动、帮助、引导与充满我们，这样我们才能进入一个喜爱与依靠圣灵的信仰。

Lord Jesus promised the disciples the Holy Spirit before His trial, and told them the Father would give another Counselor to be with them forever <Jn 14:6>. Before ascension, our Lord also told the disciples that they would receive power when Holy Spirit came on them, and they would be his witness to the ends of the earth <Ac 1:8>. Paul told the believers to be Holy Spirit-filled. In particular, in the evilness of the current era, it is only when believers are filled by the Holy Spirit can they become wise, understand God’s will, and not be assimilated into the world <Ep 5:15-18>. Holy Spirit is God, He enables believers to know the Truth of God, and bestow them the power to live out God’s Truth. In the most difficult moment of our lives, we can only be strengthened, and be bold when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. In the greatest spiritual battle and in accomplishing the greatest mission (bringing the gospel to the ends of the earth), we can only be victorious when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, through history, believers have been yearning for the power, wisdom, and gifts from the Holy Spirit. When we see people of this era having great willpower, surpassing intelligence, outstanding or great accomplishment, there is a desire to pursue after a kind of mystical power and liberation within us, and we assume it is the power of Holy Spirit. It is from here that we start walking towards the wrong path. Indeed because of this, many believers have experienced wrongly, not able to use the right power, or even end up creating the incorrect teachings. When we are filled with Holy Spirit, our conditions may not undergo tremendous changes (eg: our IQ will not boom exponentially to 200, we will not suddenly become someone who are gifted and powerful, neither will we see the people around us believing in Jesus suddenly). This is because, when Holy Spirit fills us, it enables us to believe in the Word of God, and thus the spiritual world surrounding us will completely change, and our phenomenal situations will also gradually change. Just like Joseph, David, Daniel, and Paul who were Holy Spirit filled (believed and followed the Word of God), the spiritual world surrounding them was the first to change. The serving of the armies of angels came upon them, and the next moment, they could impact the surrounding and events of the era practically. Actually, we have to first understand, it is when a person experiences the presence of God in his spirit through Christ and His Word can he then understand what it means to “do things greater than the Lord” <Jn 14:2>. If we assume that the work of Holy Spirit is the sensations from the external conditions and surrounding, and not the sensations come through submitting to the Word of God, we will not know the power of Holy Spirit in the right order. With this, we are then easily deceived in an era of confused spirits. Therefore, we have to ask ourselves, do we seek to be Holy Spirit filled in our personal problems, struggles, and daily busyness? Instead of using our human mind and our own wits to do things, endure many unnecessary pressure, and feeling helpless for the many troublesome issues we face, do we see the importance of being filled by the Holy Spirit? Besides, we have to ask a crucial question – is Holy Spirit-filled “experiential”? When Holy Spirit executes His works on us, can we discern and experience the filling of Holy Spirit at the moment? When we ask the believers who are more conservative in this aspect, we may discover that their experience of Holy Spirit is more “inferential” than “experiential”. For example: When we ask them, how do they know that they have received the Holy Spirit, they may say, “Oh, I start to attend church, and have convictions when I hear God’s Word, and continue to have the heart to depart from sin,” and thus they know that Holy Spirit is in them. Or if we ask, “how do you know you are filled by the Holy Spirit?” The common answer may be, “because I continue to obey His Word, and live out the joy and virtues of a Christian.” If not, it could be something which members of life churches often generalize, “I continue to live in Emmanuel in 24 hours, that is being Holy Spirit-filled.” If we pay attention to it, we will then discover that such sayings seem to be mean that they are experiencing Holy Spirit “theoretically”, meaning: we need some objective experiences or a period of time to infer if Holy Spirit is working on me. Though they are not entirely wrong, and conservative, but our experience of Holy Spirit must reach the “experiential” stage. What this means is, when Holy Spirit fills us there and then, we should be able to experience and feel it, and be convinced that indeed, it is the conviction and filling of Holy Spirit in us, such that we can walk alongside Him. If not, our experience of Holy Spirit will remain in the theory of “retrospective realization”. Certainly, we may not know the infinite work of the Holy Spirit, but as we face many determinative challenges, we must experience how Holy Spirit is convicting, helping, guiding, and filling us there and then, so that we can enter a faith living that loves and depends on the Holy Spirit.
